Our Response to COVID-19

During this unprecedented time, the contribution of our distribution centres, transportation and logistics operations are more important than ever.  We are working around the clock to ensure that we continue to meet the supply chain needs of our clients during this difficult time.  We have a duty to ensure that food, cleaning supplies, hygiene and other much-needed products are available across the country.

The health and safety of our employees is extremely important to us.  We are working very hard to keep them healthy and safe.  We have an essential role to play during the COVID-19 crisis.  Our people are fully committed and are working tirelessly to ensure that we continue to meet the increased demand.

Our Efforts - Employees
Since the very beginning of this crisis, our senior executives video conference (minimally once per day) to ensure the proper safety measures are in place in our distribution centres, offices and trucking operations.  Our ongoing efforts include pre-entry screening, restrictions on employee travel and visitor access, social distancing controls, clear and formal separation between groups, intense HR efforts including a 24/7 employee hotline for communication, a customized system for tracking employee symptoms, self-isolation and return to work protocols, encouraging office-based employees to work from home whenever possible, training employees on minimizing risks of infection, proper-use training of cleaning and PPE supplies, removal of communal items, intensified cleaning of surfaces during and after hours, auditing of our pandemic response plan ensuring effectiveness, and strong communication internally and externally.

Our Efforts - Business Partners
We would like to assure our clients that we will continue to do everything we can to deliver a normal level of service.  We are working very hard to keep our frontline people healthy and safe.  Overall, the network continues to maintain employee attendance near pre-crisis levels.  We are experiencing extreme spikes in outbound orders and inbound volume across our network, followed by returns to normal shipping levels for days at a time.  We have regular planning discussions with any clients impacted by higher or lower than normal demands to continuously allocate resources.  Our people are fully committed and are working tirelessly to ensure that service is maintained.

Our pandemic response plan includes strategy to disinfect our workplace in case of detection of an employee positive for COVID-19, including evacuation, contracted supplier to disinfect premises using effective cleaning disinfectant solutions as indicated by Health Canada for effective eradication of the virus, staff risk assessment, re-entry of not-in-contact employees, self-isolation of in-contact with virus employees, and return-to-work plans.
