Full Job Description

The Dispatcher works in a fast-paced office or operations environment within the transportation, logistics, or service industries. The role involves constant communication, multitasking, and coordination to ensure timely and efficient movement of vehicles, drivers, or personnel.

The work performed includes scheduling and assigning routes, monitoring vehicle locations and deliveries, communicating with drivers or field staff, handling service or shipment issues in real time, maintaining accurate logs and records, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

The shift for this position is Sunday to Thursday from 4:00am to 2:00pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and assign routes to drivers or field staff
  • Monitor vehicle locations, deliveries, and service progress
  • Communicate with drivers, clients, and internal teams to resolve issues
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, deliveries, and service activities
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, delays, or unexpected changes
  • Coordinate resources to optimize efficiency and on-time performance
  • Compile reports and maintain KPI metrics

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education is an asset
  • 2+ years experience in dispatch, transportation, or logistics operations, and equipment asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Proficiency with dispatch software, GPS systems, Microsoft Office, Truckmate, and Platform Science (an asset)
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety procedures
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Working knowledge of ELD systems and dispatch automation; related experience is an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) regulations
