Full job description

JD Smith is looking for an experienced night shift Warehouse Supervisor for our facility in the Hamilton Stoney Creek area. Hours of work are Sunday through Friday from 9:30pm to 6:00am.

Under the direction of the Warehouse Operations Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising all warehouse employees and activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Labour Management: Direct the operations of the warehouse work team to achieve prescribed objectives. Match the skill and background of personnel to the work required. Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create programs to supervise, counsel and discipline subordinates.
  • Shipping/Receiving: Supervise and coordinate unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product, and the picking and staging of outbound shipments in accordance with the highest possible levels of productivity. Verify required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers, ensuring that product is properly counted.
  • Equipment: Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all materials handling equipment.
  • Scheduling: Participate in establishing work schedules ensuring that the schedules are correctly implemented, and jobs are assigned effectively and completed properly. Organize and manage all overtime and weekend work.
  • Storage: Maintain product locator system and ensure the optimal utilization of space.
  • System & Reporting: Complete all applicable data entry (receipt entry, charges, confirmations, etc.), maintain/collect records and update reports in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Inventory: Assure the integrity of the inventory and assist in conducting physical inventories.
  • Must actively help on the floor by completing operator tasks throughout the night as time permits (unloading/loading/picking/put aways) as well as supervise, run reports (excel)

Qualifications:

  • Computer literate
  • Experience with Courier shipping systems preferred
  • 2 years supervisory experience
  • First Aid certificate or willingness to complete the training
  • Forklift certificate of training
  • Highly dependable with superior attendance record
  • Flexibility regarding hours of work including shift and weekends
  • “Can do” attitude
